My name is Louise Wästlund and I offer couples therapy for Swedish and English-speaking couples in Stockholm. I work with the internationally recognized method of Emotional Focused Therapy for couples (EFT) and is one of the few certified EFT therapists in Stockholm.
I have worked with couples therapy for over ten years in England (where I took my Master of Arts in Relationship Therapy) and in Stockholm. I have an English accreditation with BACP (British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy). I am now working with Turning Point, located on Sigtunagatan 4 near Odenplan in Stockholm.
EFT - Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples
Emotionally Focused Therapy is generally an approach to couples therapy, but it is also used in working with families. It has proved to be one of the most effective approaches to helping couples out of their crisis and as much as 90 percent of couples show significant positive improvements in their relationship, and between 70-75 percent of the couples resolve their crisis and continue together with a strengthened bond and more secure with each other. Research has also shown that the couples often strengthen their relationship further after completion of treatment. In Sweden, there are only a few therapists who perform EFT.
EFT focuses on the dynamics of the couple's interactions and not on who is right or wrong. The therapy is about creating a deeper understanding of the underlying emotions that in turn underpin behavior and the positions often taken in recurring conflicts.
I, in my role as a therapist, aim to create a safe place where you can get help finding a more effective way to meet, understand and relate to each other in order to ultimately find the harmony and the team-feeling together - a relationship where both parties can feel safe and appreciated by each other.
